At the Shipwreck Centre you can relive the golden age of shipwrecks, adventure and diving. View the pirate silver "Pieces of Eight" and Spanish gold recovered from the mystical underwater world around the coasts, along with fascinating antique diving equipment used by the early divers. Many sad and tragic stories of shipwreck and loss of life can be seen in the many displays, including local wrecks such as the sailing ships 'Clarendon' and 'Sirenia' and steamship 'Mendi' (1917).
