Architecture is one of the most prominent and reoccurring subjects that appear throughout the extensive body of work of influential British artist and designer, Edward Bawden.
Selected from the Cecil Higgins Art Gallery Collection (home to the Edward Bawden Archive), explore Bawden's passion for architecture through prints, advertising campaigns and private commissions, displaying his originality, wit and skill in giving character to the buildings featured in his work.
This exhibition includes architecturally inspired wallpaper designs, nostalgic pre-war vignettes of rural houses, modernist architecture of the 1930s and Victorian ironwork structures now lost to modernisation, some of which have never been on display.
