The National Museum of Finland (SUomen Kansallismuseo) is a museum in Helsinki on Finnish history from prehistory to the present. Besides this, the museum holds and exhibits a large collection of excavations of the Mesa Verde culture. The building that houses the museum was designed by architects Herman Gesellius, Armas Lindgren and Eliel Saarinen in neoclassical style and based on the many medieval churches and castles in Finland. It was built from 1905 to 1910 and opened its doors in 1916.
