Artworks dating back to the 13th - 18th centuries are on display in the Gemäldegalerie, housed in a fairly modern-looking building. Some of the highlights include works by Michelangelo, Rembrandt, and Botticelli. The museum's collections are arranged in a chronological order, making it quite easy to navigate. Once inside the main hall, you can choose to go left and explore mostly Italian art or you can go right and marvel at the art of German and Flemish masters. The Gemäldegalerie also organizes a number of public tours and exhibition talks which you can attend.
