The Kunsthalle Bielefeld is both a museum with its own collection and an art hall with four temporary exhibitions per year. The art hall is located in the city of Bielefeld and was founded by industrialist Rudolf-August Oetker who was born in Bielefeld. The collection of the Kunsthalle Bielefeld focuses on Expressionism, international sculpture, and contemporary art. The permanent collection includes many works of 20th-century art, including paintings by Pablo Picasso and Max Beckmann, works by the Blaue Reiter group and movements centred on László Moholy-Nagy and Oskar Schlemmer, as well as more recent art from the 1970s and '80s.
