The Zoologischer Garten Wuppertal, in short Zoo Wuppertal or Wuppertaler Zoo, is a zoo in Wuppertal in Germany. The zoo was opened in 1881 and after an expansion in 2006, the zoo contains an area of 24 hectares. The park-like layout of the zoo features numerous trees and lanes. Zoo Wuppertal is home to over 4200 animals belonging to around 460 speciesm including many rare ones. It coordinates international breeding programs for the Chilean pudu (Pudu pudu), the black-footed cat (Felis nigripes), the Oman cat (Felis silvestris gordoni) and the African elephant (Loxodonta africana).
