The country has 17 places on the UNESCO heritage list with: the temple of Apollo Epicurius in Bassae, the Acropolis of Athens, the Archaeological city of Delphi, the medieval town of Rhodes, the monastery complex of Meteora and Aghio Oros (Mount Athos) , the early Christian and Byzantine monuments in Thessaloniki, the sanctuary of Asklepios in Epidaurus, the archaeological site of Mystras, Olympia and Delos, the monasteries of Daphni, Hosios Loukas and Nea Moni of Chios, the Pythagorion and Heraion of Samos, the archaeological city of Aigai (the current Vergina), the archaeological sites of Mycenae and Tiryns, the historical center (Chorá) with the monastery of St. John and the old town of Corfu.
