The Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden has a history dating back to the 19th century. It is one of the oldest zoos in the world, as well as the oldest zoo in Hungary. The zoo spans an area of over 18 hectares of land and it is home to more than a thousand different animal species. It is located within Városliget Park, in the centre of Budapest. The Budapest zoo features various zones, namely: The Magical Hill, America Tropicana, Savannah Zone, Australia Zone, India Zone, János Xántus House, and Primates Near-at-Hand.
