The Museum of the Occupation of Latvia in Riga wants visitors to remember what happened to the country and the people of Latvia during the Soviet and German National Socialist regimes, from 1940-1991 and commemorate all who were unjustly convicted and murdered and remind them of the offences carried out against Latvia and its people. The Museum of the Occupation of Latvia holds a collection of around 60,000 items that relate to the occupation periods. The museum gathered (video) testimonies of people affected by the occupations and obtained artefacts that both add personal experience to the history, through the life story of each person.
