Fransmansmuseum and its collection

The completely renovated Fransmans Museum in Koekelare is an ode to the many seasonal workers from the area and the wider Flemish region who migrated to France to earn a living. These so-called 'Fransmans' mainly went to work growing sugar beets. By means of iconic portraits and stories, the museum introduces you to the seasonal workers and allows you to experience their journey at first hand: from signing a contract in a café, to the sometimes long journeys by bicycle or on foot to France, to the hard work and homesickness...
