L'Oceanogràfic (El Oceanográfico, or The Oceanographic) is an oceanarium in Valencia that was designed by the architect Félix Candela and the structural engineers Alberto Domingo and Carlos Lázaro. L'Oceanogràfic represents various marine ecosystems and is the largest complex (aquarium) of its type in Europe with its water capacity of 42,000,000 litres. It is home to around 45,000 animals, including fish, mammals, birds, reptiles and invertebrates, representing around 500 different species, including sharks, penguins, dolphins, sea lions, walruses and beluga whales.
