The Narrow Gauge Railway Museum was started in the 1950's and the first collections were displayed by 1956. A new building was opened as part of the Wharf Station of the Talyllyn Railway in 2006. This is on the site which has been the terminus of the Talyllyn Railway since it opened in 1865. The original building survives and some of the original slate yard has been restored and can be viewed from the museum balcony. Narrow Gauge Railway Museum features exhibits related to Land Transport, Social History and Industry.
