Exhibition 'A Quest For Healing' in Surgeons' Hall Museums
We are delighted to welcome award winning Chinese artist Zhang Yanzi, who will be exhibiting until the 4th of November. Through diverse materials, Zhang Yanzi will explore the themes of healing, energy and human existence from both a Chinese and universal perspective.
Zhang Yanzi spent time in Edinburgh during the summer of 2017 and was inspired by both the collection at Surgeons’ Hall Museums and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh itself. The exhibition has been specially curated in response to this residency and will feature some bespoke pieces.
In an interview with the ‘South China Morning Post,’ Zhang Yanzi spoke about her time at the museum, remarking on how the feelings that were evoked by the museum’s collection were more powerful than the ones she has felt from contemporary art.
Zhang Yanzi’s works have been exhibited widely nationally and internationally and her work ‘The Remedy’ was awarded Best Artwork of 2013 LuXun Culture Award.
