Exhibition 'Annie Vriezen - textile art' in De Fraeylemaborg
Textile artist Annie Vriezen lived and worked at the Allersmaborg in Ezinge (Groningen) from the 1960s to 2000s. She exhibited her woven tapestries and batik internationally. Her work was popular in Groningen; it could be seen in churches, government buildings and in private collections. For years, Annie’s imagination colored the public space in Groningen. Art historian Lili Labouchere praised 'the use of color, the tranquility and the search for the essential that is expressed in the work'. Vriezen followed her own path, inspired by the Groningen landscape and life on the Allersmaborg.
In 2024, Annie Vriezen celebrates her 90th birthday. A moment to reflect and celebrate her contribution to the textile arts. Inspired by the many exhibitions she herself organized in the Carriage House of the Allersmaborg, this year the Fraeylemaborg is opening the doors of its own Carriage House to Annie Vriezen.
