Exhibition 'Bonsai van het Westen' in TU Delft Hortus Botanicus
Experience the art of bonsai at Bonsai van het Westen 2026
Discover the refined art of bonsai during Bonsai van het Westen 2026, the biggest bonsai event in the Netherlands. On Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June 2026, the TU Delft Hortus Botanicus once again provides a unique green setting for a weekend dedicated to nature, craftsmanship and Japanese art and culture.
At the heart of Bonsai van het Westen is a carefully curated exhibition featuring high-quality bonsai, presented by experienced and inspiring bonsai artists. From classical styles to contemporary interpretations, the exhibition showcases the richness and diversity of bonsai art.
Visitors can take part in workshops for both beginners and advanced enthusiasts, focusing on techniques such as shaping, maintenance and styling. During live demonstrations, experts show how raw material is transformed step by step into expressive bonsai trees. The demonstration trees will be raffled among visitors after the event.
Those seeking deeper insight can attend lectures on the philosophy, techniques and background of bonsai, or join a guided tour of the exhibition, highlighting the stories behind the trees.
The atmospheric bonsai market offers everything a bonsai enthusiast could wish for, including trees, pots, tools, books and accessories. Visitors can also experience moments of calm and focus during a tea ceremony, perfectly complementing the bonsai experience.
After taking in all the impressions, guests can relax with food and drinks or enjoy a walk through the beautiful botanical gardens. Bonsai van het Westen offers a complete day trip, suitable for enthusiasts, newcomers and families alike.
