Exhibition with over 20 spectacular fashion creations by the designer Peter George d’Angelino Tap.

Especially for this exhibition, d’Angelino Tap designed 21 haute couture robes and a panoramic tapestry inspired by the paintings of Hendrik Willem Mesdag and Vincent van Gogh. This year, cultural institutions are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the death of Hendrik Willem Mesdag and the 125th anniversary of the death of Vincent van Gogh.
The choice of fabric and motifs was derived directly from the paintings of Mesdag and Van Gogh. The greyish hues of the Hague School favoured by the marine painter Mesdag contrast strikingly with Van Gogh's brilliant French colours. The texture of the paint was also completely different in the work of the two artists. The artists briefly worked in The Hague at the same time. Commenting on Panorama Mesdag, Van Gogh wrote, 'That painting’s only fault is not to have any faults'.
The patterns of the gowns are based on drawings by Carel de Nerée tot Babberich, a contemporary of the two painters. De Nerée tot Babberich presents a stylised picture of the fashion of the Belle Époque.
