Exhibition 'From Dohar to Delft' in TU Delft Hortus Botanicus
This temporary pavilion was designed as part of a master's course at the Faculty of Architecture, in which students were tasked with reimagining materials from a prefabricated Dohar House for a new purpose.
The original prefabricated house was bought on the local market in Dohar and served Marina Tabassum Architects as a model for its own award-winning, ultra-low-cost modular shelter designed, the Khudi Bari, a building system that is also easy to erect and dismantle but made of bamboo.
The pavilionโs wall elements have been carefully designed to preserve the chapter and identity of the original structure. The sides of the pavilion can be fully opened during use, creating a sheltered, flexible space that can accommodate a variety of activities.
The pavilion will be located at the Hortus from July to October 2026. During this period, it will host a range of events while also providing visitors with a welcoming place to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
