Exhibition 'From Dohar to Delft' in TU Delft Hortus Botanicus

This temporary pavilion was designed as part of a master's course at the Faculty of Architecture, in which students were tasked with reimagining materials from a prefabricated Dohar House for a new purpose.

The original prefabricated house was bought on the local market in Dohar and served Marina Tabassum Architects as a model for its own award-winning, ultra-low-cost modular shelter designed, the Khudi Bari, a building system that is also easy to erect and dismantle but made of bamboo.

The pavilionโ€™s wall elements have been carefully designed to preserve the chapter and identity of the original structure. The sides of the pavilion can be fully opened during use, creating a sheltered, flexible space that can accommodate a variety of activities.

The pavilion will be located at the Hortus from July to October 2026. During this period, it will host a range of events while also providing visitors with a welcoming place to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
