Exhibition 'Into the darkness' in WOMAI - Center of Science and Senses

This is an experience of complete darkness, unlike anything in everyday life. During the tour you cannot see anything, but you can feel, touch, and hear! While moving through a simulation of daily life, guests discover the world of people who are visually impaired. They experience it firsthand, guided by a blind person.

How do blind people perceive the world? What is it like to see nothing at all? What role do other senses play – and how much do we ignore them in our daily lives? These are questions we rarely ask ourselves. At our Center, we want to encourage openness, empathy, and looking at the world through the eyes of others – by asking such questions and seeking answers together.

Tours take place in small groups (max. 8 people). Each group is guided by a blind or visually impaired person who, adapting to the participants, shares their perspective of the world. They talk about everyday challenges, but also about pursuing passions and interests. In a completely safe environment, participants try to function as a blind person would. Tours are held at specific times published in advance. Due to the subject of the exhibition and the complete darkness (around 50 minutes), participation is available only from 9 years of age.
