Exhibition 'LaSalle Odyssey' in Texana Museum & Library Assn

Stop 3 of 7 in the "LaSalle Odyssey (a joint exhibit between the government of France and the Texas Historical Commission, in conjunction with the Bullock Museum in Austin, TX) exploring the failed expedition of French explorer LaSalle who shipwrecked in nearby Matagorda Bay in February of 1865. Our focus is on the indigenous Karankawa people and their interaction with LaSalle and his expeditionary companions, complete with story boards, interactive video, a life sized example of an indigenous habitat, and several artifacts crafted in 1684 France that were pulled from the wreckage of the ill-fated "LaBelle" in the bay waters.
