Exhibition 'Lozoraitis Lithuania: When Personal Becomes Political' in The House of Signatories
2024 has been declared the Year of the Lozoraitis Diplomats. The National Museum of Lithuania, contributing to the commemoration of this exceptional family story, invites visitors to look at the history not only through the prism of politics and diplomacy, but also to explore the multifaceted life of these people.
Having lived for the idea of an independent state for generations, the Lozoraitis family always focused its diplomatic and social activities on the vision of free Lithuania. During the occupation in exile it became an island of the independent Lithuania, around which the whole network revolved, including not only political and diplomatic dimensions, but also social.
For the first time, a single exhibition has assembled not only documents and photographs, audio recordings and filmed material about the family’s activities, but also their personal belongings. Some of these items are related to their diplomatic and political lives, others reveal their personal interests, tastes, and lifestyle, offering us a closer emotional connection to these important historical figures.
