Exhibition 'Match - Limburgs Museum 1 on 1 with the Rijksmuseum' in Limburgs Museum
'Match', the perfect date for works of art. This summer, Limburgs Museum brings together two masterpieces from Limburg in an intimate setting: one from the collection of the Rijksmuseum and one from its own collection. The two paintings meet each other, reference and contrast one another, they connect and excite. Will they have a perfect ‘match’ after this date? The visitor decides.
In the Limburgs Museum, we receive ‘Vertumnus en Pomona’ from the permanent collection of the Rijksmuseum, painted by Hendrik Goltzius in 1613. We couple Goltzius’ work, who was born in the border region of North-Limburg, with Jean Laudy’s ‘Naakt met appeltjes’. This painter from Venlo created his work about three centuries after Goltzius.

'Match' is an initiative from M6, a collaboration between six museums: Gemeentemuseum het Hannemahuis, Musea Zutphen, Westfries Museum, Museum Gouda, the Markiezenhof and the Limburgs Museum. For this special occasion, the collaboration has been expanded to twelve museums (M12), so that each province of the Netherlands will exhibit one Match.
