    The Laing Art Gallery, situated in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, was established in the year 1904. It was founded by Alexander Laing, a wealthy wine merchant from Newcastle, who donated an estimated 20,000 pounds for the construction of the gallery. The gallery was designed by local architects Cackett and Burns Dick.
