Exhibition 'Opgebrand' in Museum van de Vrouw
Burnout. Overworked. Burned out. We hear these terms more and more often. Fatigue, loss of concentration, and the feeling of constantly having to keep going are familiar to many people. This exhibition focuses precisely on that moment when functioning is no longer self-evident and the boundary between continuing and stopping begins to blur.
In the exhibition Opgebrand, this reality is not approached as a clinical concept, but as something visible, tangible, and personal. The art shows how diverse life stories come together in a shared experience: the moment when it becomes too much.
What begins as busyness or temporary fatigue can gradually build up into a state in which recovery is no longer self-evident. More and more people recognize the feeling of constantly having to continue, while energy declines and their grip on everyday life weakens. For many women, the combination of work, family, and personal development plays an important role. This exhibition focuses on those experiences.
Lived-experience experts
The cross-border artistsโ collective dreieck.triangle.driehoek explores this theme from different perspectives. Ten women from the collective took part because they have experienced burnout themselves or have come into close contact with it.
Through personal stories and artworks, the exhibition shows how thin the line is between functioning and breaking down, but also what recovery can mean. In a range of disciplines and techniques, feelings of exhaustion and hope are expressed. The works offer space for recognition, reflection, and dialogue.
The works of the following artists are on view:
Ans Westdorp-Klinkers, Daniรซlle Posthumus, Dorine Hulshof, Edith van Loo, Gabriele Maria Corsten, Hanne Werhan, Kirsten Mรผller-Lehnen, Mia Meijers, Renรฉe Sieben, UTA Gรถbel-Groร
