Exhibition 'The path of money' in Hungarian Money Museum and Visitor Center

Gold Mine
The visitor route starts in the Gold Mine, where in addition to Hungarian gold mining, the visitor may tune on the exhibition with other spectacular contents.

I. Hub – money as value meter
Motto: “Money helps to valuate things”
The main question of the 1st area: What could show the value of things, if there were no money?
We would not even think how many times we use the money’s value meter role a day to compare, valuate, for decision-making. We find it obvious that we can use our money for all of these.

II. Hub – money as turnover instrument
Motto: “Money helps us to make our desires true”
The main question of the 2nd area: What is required to acknowledge a payment tool as money?
We use money most frequently for purchasing, we can satisfy our everyday needs using it, whether we think about the foods consumed, the clothes, transportation, entertainment, health. Several different things can mediate the exchange of goods, but how does appropriate money look like?

III. Hub – money as means of payment
Motto: “The key of money is trust”
The main question of the 3rd area: What would happen if there were no banks?
The history of money links to the history of banks. The 3rd hub examines the means of payment function of money.

IV. Hub – money as world money
Motto: “Money opens the door to the entire world”
The main question of the 4th area: ‘hy there are almost ‘all-language’, universally accepted and unknown currencies?
When we first encounter other countries' currencies, we are curious to turn over, to make friends with their names, to search for their hidden messages. We can use money across borders for valuations, purchases, investments and loans.

V. Hub – money as treasure-builder and a means of accumulation
Motto: “Money provides security”
The main question of the 5th area: When we are looking into the future, the unknown changes provide us uncertainty, but how can we prepare for them?
The role of money as a treasure-building, accumulation tool reminds us to think in the long term and to save by managing our present income well.
