Dimensions, vistas and panoramic mountain landscapes

The German artist Ulrike Heydenreich (1975) is fascinated by panoramic mountain landscapes. She records these vistas in drawing and objects, with collages and through folding techniques – and sometimes in all these ways at once. In doing so, she continuously alternates between two and three dimensions: she might, for instance, create relief in a drawing of a mountain panorama by folding meticulously-placed creases into the paper.

She is always looking for new methods and materials to employ in these visual explorations. Her chosen media include pencil, historical photos and graphic images, but also textiles, needle and thread, or even a huge reflective kaleidoscope.

This is the first time a museum has presented a overview of Heydenreich's work.
