Exhibition 'Vermeer komt Thuis - Het Straatje terug in Delft' in Museum Prinsenhof Delft
The exhibition Vermeer is coming home | The Little Street returns to Delft describes the long search to identify the place that inspired Vermeer to paint his masterpiece. It deals with a number of theories, but specifically explains the most recent research on this topic. The location of The Little Street near Vlamingstraat 40-42 enables us to consider the painting from a different point of view, because Vermeer had personal memories of this place. The exhibition puts the painting between Delft cityscapes by contemporaries, such as Pieter de Hooch and Daniël Vosmaer; memories play a role in their works too.
