It is conveniently located at the intersection of Atatürk Boulevard and Cumhuriyet Avenue, making it easily accessible for visitors. The Adıyaman Archaeological Museum houses a wide range of archaeological finds from the city and its surrounding areas. These include artifacts unearthed during rescue excavations conducted as part of the Southeastern Anatolia Project. This project was initiated to preserve archaeological sites threatened by the construction of hydroelectric dams in the Euphrates basin.
The collection at the Adıyaman Archaeological Museum spans several historical periods. It includes Palaeolithic tools, Neolithic arrowheads, and pottery from the Copper Age. Visitors can also see spearpoints, cooking utensils, and jewellery from the Bronze and Iron Ages. The museum also houses items from the Hellenistic and Roman periods, such as statues, mosaics, and vessels made of stone, ceramics, and glass. The collection is rounded off with items from the Islamic period, particularly from the Seljuq and Ottoman eras.
