The Maricopa Live Steamers organization (MLS) is a key feature of the Adobe Mountain Desert Park. As the oldest organization of its kind in Arizona, MLS owns multiple 7 1/2" gauge train engines, around 50 riding cars, and 20 other cars. They have created an extensive network of tracks, with more than 18 miles of 7 1/2" gauge tracks and 1500 feet of 4 3/4" track. Visitors can enjoy free train rides on Sundays from September through May, starting from Adobe Station and running through the rugged desert landscape. The Arizona Western Railroad, created by MLS, is one of the largest miniature railroad setups in the United States.
