The Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum is an art museum situated in the city of Seto, which is located to the north of Nagoya in central Japan. This museum is dedicated to the art of ceramics, showcasing a wide range of ceramic art pieces from different periods of Japanese history.
The Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum boasts a collection of over 7000 items, which span from the Jōmon period (circa 10,000 BC - circa 300 BC) to contemporary ceramics. These pieces have been produced by some of Japan's most renowned potters, providing a detailed insight into Japan's rich ceramic art history.
In addition to its extensive collection, the Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum also houses a library, a restaurant, a traditional Japanese tea ceremony room, and a studio. Visitors can enjoy tea from bowls made by famous artists in the tea ceremony room, and they can also try their hand at making and decorating their own pottery in the studio.
Please note that the Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum will be closed for reconstruction from June 2023 to March 2025. Visitors planning to visit the museum during this period should adjust their plans accordingly.
