The Air Force Museum of New Zealand, previously known as the Royal New Zealand Air Force Museum, is situated in Wigram, which was the first operational base of the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF). The museum is located in Christchurch, on the South Island of New Zealand.
The museum houses the national collection of the Royal New Zealand Air Force. This collection includes objects from the history of military aviation in New Zealand, starting from its inception, through World War I, the interwar years, and World War II, during which the RNZAF was formed in 1937. The collection also covers the RNZAF's campaign in the Pacific and the postwar years up to the present day.
Visitors to the museum have the opportunity to request guided tours of areas that are typically closed to the public. This includes the hangar of the Reserve Collection.
The museum also features a Mosquito flight simulator. This simulator offers a mission based on the Allied bombing of German battleships in the Norwegian fjords.
