The National Airline History Museum, situated at the Kansas City Downtown Airport in Kansas City, Missouri, is an aviation museum that concentrates on the history of airlines in the United States. It provides a unique opportunity for visitors to delve into the evolution of the aviation industry, from the propeller age to the jet age, through its collection of vintage passenger aircraft.
The National Airline History Museum houses five aircraft on its premises. Two of these aircraft are in flying condition, offering a rare glimpse into the operational aspects of vintage planes. One aircraft is currently undergoing restoration, demonstrating the meticulous process involved in preserving these historical machines. Additionally, a corporate mock-up is also on display, providing an insight into the design and functionality of these aircraft.
In April 2009, the National Airline History Museum announced the acquisition of one of the last six operational Lockheed L-1011 Tristar aircraft in the U.S. This significant addition to the museum's collection was made possible through a donation by Paul Pristo. The Lockheed L-1011 Tristar, a wide-body airliner that was popular in the 1970s and 1980s, offers visitors a chance to explore a key piece of aviation history.
