The Allan Shivers Library and Museum is situated at 302 N. Charlton, in the city of Woodville, within the county of Tyler, in the U.S. state of Texas. This location is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark and serves as a repository of historical records and memorabilia of the 37th Governor of Texas, Allan Shivers. The museum also houses Woodville's public library.
The entire second floor of the Allan Shivers Library and Museum is dedicated to the gubernatorial years of Shivers. The first floor features rooms such as a Victorian parlor furnished with antiques and family artifacts. The interior carpet of the house was imported from France. The trophy room showcases Governor Shiver's souvenirs from his Zambia safari. The Governor's private book collection is housed in the Rare Books Room and can only be accessed within the library with staff authorization.
The Allan Shivers Library and Museum offers conference facilities that can be reserved in advance. There is an admission fee to enter the museum. Tours are available for visitors. Groups of more than 10 people are required to book in advance. The museum is open six days a week, from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
