The Alte Synagoge in Hagenow, once the religious center of the local Jewish community, has been transformed into a cultural center and part of the Hagenow local history museum. The building complex, which has been renovated since 2004, consists of the synagogue, a former community and school building with a preserved Mikveh, and a carriage shed. Today, it is known as the Hanna-Meinungen-Haus.
The former school and community house now serves as a space where the local and regional history of Jewish citizens is presented. Visitors can explore several rooms dedicated to this purpose. The Mikveh, a ritual bath fed by groundwater and featuring a barrel embedded in the floor made of oak boards, is fully preserved. The actual synagogue is now a venue for cultural events.
