The Ancient High House in Stafford, England, is a well-preserved Elizabethan town house that offers visitors a glimpse into local history. Built in 1595, it stands as the largest timber-framed townhouse in England. The museum showcases period rooms from different eras, allowing visitors to explore how life has changed over the centuries.

Visitors generally appreciate the authentic atmosphere and the chance to step back in time. The Tudor architecture and original features of the building are frequently praised. Many find the exhibits informative, particularly those related to the Civil War period and local Stafford history.

However, some visitors mention that the museum is relatively small and can be explored in a short amount of time. A few have noted that certain areas could benefit from more detailed explanations or interactive elements to enhance the experience, especially for younger visitors.

The staff members are often described as knowledgeable and friendly, adding value to the visit with their insights. The gift shop, while small, is reported to have a nice selection of souvenirs and local crafts.

Accessibility might be a concern for some visitors, as the historic nature of the building means there are steep stairs and uneven floors. This aspect is worth considering for those with mobility issues.

Overall, the Ancient High House provides an interesting look at local history in a genuine historical setting. While it may not be an extensive museum, it offers a authentic experience for those interested in Tudor architecture and the history of Stafford.

Well, what a wonderful time, we had with Gillian our Guide. Before our Walk around Stafford, we explored, High House, which is a wonderful gem, in the middle of Stafford high street. Having lived around Stafford for 50 years, it was wonderful to learn some of the history surrounding the people who once owned and lived in these old buildings. It was an interactive tour which was made very interesting and so much fun. I would definitely recommend and take the tour again. Di. Onions Gnosall.
