Holstebro Art Museum is situated in close proximity to the city center of Holstebro, just south of the Storåen river. The museum is housed within a large complex that beautifully merges the old with the new. The complex comprises of a mansion dating back to 1906 and a modern museum building that was constructed in 1981. The museum was further expanded in 2011 with the addition of the 'Færchfløjen', a wing designed by architect Hanne Kjærholm and furnished by Poul Kjærholm.

The collections at Holstebro Art Museum encompass Danish and international art and crafts from the 20th century, contemporary art, as well as traditional art from non-Western cultures. The museum adopts a retrospective approach to its collections, meaning that an artist is often represented with numerous works. This allows visitors to follow an artist's journey and understand their work in both breadth and depth.
Main Attractions at Holstebro Art Museum
Among the main attractions at the Holstebro Art Museum are works by the popular Henry Heerup and other artists from the 'COBRA' movement, John Olsen's intriguing 'Wonder Chamber', and a large collection of works by Tal R. In addition to rotating presentations of the collection, the museum also organizes special exhibitions.
