Arte Sella is an international contemporary art exhibition that was initiated in 1986. It is held outdoors in the meadows and forests of Val di Sella, located in the municipality of Borgo Valsugana in the province of Trento. This unique setting allows visitors to experience art in a natural environment, providing a distinctive blend of culture and nature.

The Artenatura Trail

Since 1996, the Arte Sella exhibition has expanded along a path on Monte Armentera, in Val di Sella, known as 'artenatura'. This trail, approximately 3 km long, is home to around 25 art installations. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely walk while appreciating the various artworks strategically placed along the trail.

The Artworks of Arte Sella

The artworks displayed at Arte Sella are generally three-dimensional, crafted with natural materials such as stones, leaves, branches, or trunks. Occasionally, artificial objects, materials, or colors are used. These artworks are placed outdoors, allowing visitors to appreciate the art while simultaneously enjoying the unique environmental features of the area, including different types of forests, rocks, and monumental trees.

Arte Sella is an open-air museum and art park located in the Sella Valley near Borgo Valsugana, Italy. It offers a unique blend of nature and contemporary art, featuring site-specific installations created by international artists using natural materials. Visitors appreciate the peaceful forest setting and the opportunity to explore art in harmony with nature. The walking paths are well-maintained, allowing for an enjoyable experience as you discover various sculptures and installations along the way. Some visitors find the entrance fee a bit high, but many feel it's worth the price for the unique experience. The museum changes with the seasons, offering different perspectives throughout the year. While most reviews are positive, some visitors mention that some artworks may be showing signs of decay due to exposure to the elements, which is part of the natural process intended by the artists. The on-site café receives mixed reviews, with some finding it overpriced.
