The museum was officially opened in April 1980 and initially, it was open to visitors on Saturdays and Sundays during the peak season. However, according to recent sources, the museum is now open on Sundays. Until at least 1998, it was open all year round, but since at least 2004, it has been open only during the summer months.
Over the years, the museum's collection has grown significantly. As of 2014, the museum had on display 70 cars, 110 motorcycles, 10 mopeds, 3 bicycles, and 250 engines. This diverse collection offers visitors a comprehensive look at the evolution of motor vehicles over the years.
The museum's focus is primarily on sports cars, with a collection that includes eleven race cars and several small cars. Some of the vehicles and vehicle brands on display include a 1964 Austin-Healey 3000, a 1936 Cord 810, a 1949 Allard, BMW models 315, 327, 501, Isetta and 600, Citroën SM and Traction Avant, Porsche 356, Alfa Romeo Spider and Montreal, Jaguar XK 150 and E-Type, Ford Model A and Model BB, Opel P4 and Olympia, Austin 7, Lamborghini Jarama and Espada, Borgward Isabella, Mercedes-Benz SL and 170, Glas V8, Maserati, Ferrari, Triumph and MG; Jaguar; Porsche 911, Lotus, Chevrolet, DKW, Fiat, Glas, Tatra, Wanderer and a 1908 Hupmobile.
