Baku Zoo, located in Baku, Azerbaijan, is a state-run zoological park that was established in 1928. It holds the distinction of being the oldest zoo in the country. The zoo is managed and owned by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan and the Mayoralty of Baku City.
In 2008, Baku Zoo welcomed six species of exotic animals from Minsk. These included pairs of Nile crocodiles, South American coatis, chinchillas, roe deer, Egyptian dogs, and lynxes. These additions have further diversified the animal population of the zoo.
As of 2018, Baku Zoo housed approximately 1200 animals, representing 160 different species. This diverse collection of animals makes the zoo a fascinating destination for wildlife enthusiasts.
