The museum offered a unique behind-the-scenes look at how a large city like Baltimore provides public works utility services to its citizens. This included exhibits on street lighting, road maintenance, and trash removal, providing a comprehensive understanding of the city's infrastructure.
In 2018, a new initiative was announced to renovate the facility and open an expanded museum called the "Public Works Experience". This new museum aims to rejuvenate the original museum into a hands-on, STEM-focused engagement to help visitors learn about the importance of public works.
The facility is now open to the public on the second Saturday of each month, from 10am to 2pm. This provides a unique opportunity for visitors to explore the museum and learn about the city's public works.
