Belle Mont is a historic plantation house located near Tuscumbia in Colbert County, Alabama. The mansion is a prime example of Jeffersonian-style architecture, which is a unique blend of classical and European architectural elements. This style is named after Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States, who had a keen interest in architecture and designed several buildings himself.
In 1983, the house and 33 acres of land were donated to the Alabama Historical Commission. Since then, the mansion has been gradually restored and currently operates as a historic house museum. Visitors can explore the mansion and its grounds, learning about its history and the people who lived there.
