Bevern Castle, situated in the southern part of the Holzminden district in Lower Saxony, is a significant architectural monument of the Weser Renaissance. The castle was constructed between 1603 and 1612 by Statius von Münchhausen, replacing an old manor that previously occupied the site.
Bevern Castle is a two-story four-wing building, constructed around an almost square courtyard. The main building is encircled by a moat, crossed by two bridges. To the east of the moat lies the castle garden, which has been built over, while to the west, visitors can see remnants of the gatehouse and the castle barn.
Until the late 18th century, Bevern Castle served as a residence for members of the Brunswick-Bevern line. In 1798, the castle was repurposed as a retirement home for former servants. For a period, a merchant even operated a button factory within the castle's walls.
