The Bistumsarchiv Hildesheim, located in the Lower Saxony city of Hildesheim, is the archive of the Diocese of Hildesheim. It houses a vast collection of documents, some of which date back to the 11th century. The archive spans approximately 4000 running meters and includes medieval collections that provide a glimpse into the past and present of the diocese.

Significant Collections at Bistumsarchiv Hildesheim

The Bistumsarchiv Hildesheim is often referred to as the 'central memory' of the Diocese of Hildesheim. It holds significant collections related to the Episcopal Curia, Hildesheim Cathedral Chapter, Episcopal General Vicariate, and the Episcopal Gymnasium Josephinum. Additionally, it houses more than 280 of the approximately 330 parish archives of the Diocese of Hildesheim.
