The District No. 8 School, also known as the Brick School, is a historic school building located on United States Route 7 in Georgia, Vermont. Built in 1891, it was one of the last district schools to be constructed in the state. Today, it houses the collection of the Georgia Historical Society and is known as the Brick Schoolhouse Museum.
The Brick Schoolhouse Museum holds a significant place in history, as it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. This recognition underscores the importance of the building in the historical and cultural landscape of Georgia, Vermont.
The Brick School was built in 1891 on the site of a previous school building. Between 1927 and 1930, the town made alterations to the building to bring it up to the then-current state standards regarding lighting and plumbing. This gives visitors a glimpse into the evolution of school infrastructure over time.
