Brundlund Castle, situated in the city of Aabenraa, is home to the Kunstmuseet Brundlund Slot. This museum is a part of the larger Museum Sønderjylland, showcasing a variety of exhibitions with a focus on Southern Jutland artists, historical themes, and contemporary art. The castle itself has a rich history, having served as the residence for the bailiff and later the county governor of Aabenraa County from 1470 to 1997.
The museum's collection at Brundlund Castle is extensive, featuring thousands of works by Southern Jutland artists from the 18th century to the present. Among these works are 17 oil paintings by the renowned Danish artist C.W. Eckersberg. However, due to the castle's modest size, it is not possible to display the entire collection permanently. Instead, the collection is shown in larger and smaller selections in connection with exhibitions.
