Bunker Museum and its collection

Today, the Bunkeranlage Ungerberg serves as an open-air museum. It is one of the branches of the Military History Museum. Visitors can explore the facility and learn about its historical significance and the role it played during the Cold War era.

Underground Facilities of Bunkeranlage Ungerberg

The facilities of the Bunkeranlage Ungerberg are located 20 meters underground. They are covered with a 2-meter thick layer of concrete and were designed to be self-sufficient with their own air and water supply systems, a coal central heating, bedrooms, and a washroom. This gives visitors a unique insight into the living conditions of the soldiers stationed here during the Cold War.

Public Access to Bunkeranlage Ungerberg

In 2014, the Bunkeranlage Ungerberg was taken over by the Vienna Military History Museum (HGM) and is now open to the public. Visitors can explore the bunker and its facilities, gaining a unique insight into the military history of Austria during the Cold War era.
