The Candler Field Museum was a unique non-profit venture that aimed to recreate the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport as it appeared in the 1920s and 1930s. This museum provided a glimpse into the past, showcasing the early days of aviation and the history of one of the busiest airports in the world.
The Candler Field Museum housed one complete building, several aircraft and vehicles, and a large collection of memorabilia from the era. This included general aeronautical memorabilia, providing a comprehensive look at the history of aviation during the 1920s and 1930s.
The museum was home to several historic aircraft, including a 1917 Curtiss JN-4, a 1928 Curtiss Robin, a 1930 6L Stearman, a 1940 Douglas DC-3A, a 1941 PT-17 Stearman, and a Waco YMF-5. These aircraft were not only on display but were also maintained in running condition, adding to the authenticity of the museum experience.
