The Casa de la Convención de Rionegro is a significant architectural work in the history of Colombia. Its colonial-style construction reflects the times when the Spanish dominated Colombia. The building's mud walls, large courtyard, clay tiles, and fine wood from bygone times allow visitors to perceive the remnants of the colonial era. This historical site has been considered a National Monument of Colombia since 1963.
The museum consists of six rooms that pay tribute to different characters and events in the history of Rionegro and Colombia. The main event, which took place in the same location where the first room is now located, is the Constitution of the United States of Colombia, signed on February 4, 1863. Visitors can observe images of the 64 members of the Convention, copies of the minutes, and symbolic replicas of the tables and chairs used by the attendees.
