Casa Pueblo, located in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, is a community-based organization with a focus on environmental conservation. The organization is led by Alexis Massol-González, a civil engineer who was awarded the 2002 Goldman Environmental Prize. As a non-profit entity, Casa Pueblo operates with the goal of protecting and preserving the environment.
Casa Pueblo was founded in 1980 as a cultural center known as Taller de Arte y Cultura (Art and Culture Workshop). In 1985, the organization purchased a house which was transformed into the group's headquarters and a community cultural center. The center operates independently and is self-supporting.
The house that serves as Casa Pueblo's headquarters is utilized as a cultural center. It features a meeting and expositions hall, a library, a shop selling carts, a butterfly garden, and a museum hall. Notably, the entire facility operates on solar energy.
