The Chester County History Center (CCHC), previously known as the Chester County Historical Society, is a nonprofit organization established in 1893. Its mission is to collect, preserve, and display the history of Chester County, Pennsylvania, and its surrounding regions. This makes it a significant destination for those interested in understanding the rich history and culture of the area.
The Chester County History Center is conveniently located at 225 North High Street in the heart of downtown West Chester. Its central location makes it easily accessible for visitors and tourists exploring the city.
The Chester County History Center is a large complex spanning 56,000 square feet, comprising a museum and a library. The complex includes two interconnected buildings. The older of the two, known as Horticultural Hall, was designed by architect Thomas U. Walter in 1848 and was the venue for the 1852 Pennsylvania Women's Rights Convention. This historical significance adds to the appeal of the center for visitors.
