The Cleveland Museum of Art is widely regarded as one of the finest art museums in the United States. Located in the University Circle neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio, this museum offers an extensive collection spanning 6,000 years of human creativity.

Visitors consistently praise the museum's diverse and high-quality exhibits, which include everything from ancient Egyptian artifacts to contemporary art. The museum's layout is well-organized, allowing for a smooth and enjoyable viewing experience. Many reviewers appreciate the spacious galleries that provide ample room to admire the artworks without feeling crowded.

One of the most notable aspects of the Cleveland Museum of Art is that general admission is free, which is highly appreciated by visitors and locals alike. This policy makes art accessible to everyone and encourages repeat visits. The museum also offers special exhibitions that may require a separate ticket, but these are generally considered worth the cost due to their exceptional quality.

The museum's recent renovations have enhanced the overall experience, with the addition of interactive displays and a state-of-the-art atrium that serves as a central gathering space. The ArtLens Gallery, featuring touchscreen displays and innovative technology, is often highlighted as a particularly engaging and educational area for visitors of all ages.

While the majority of reviews are overwhelmingly positive, some visitors mention that certain areas of the museum can be chilly, so bringing a light jacket is advisable. Additionally, a few reviewers note that the museum's size can be overwhelming for a single visit, suggesting that multiple trips might be necessary to fully appreciate the extensive collection.

The on-site café receives mixed reviews, with some praising the quality of food and others finding it somewhat overpriced. However, this minor criticism does little to detract from the overall exceptional experience offered by the museum.

In conclusion, the Cleveland Museum of Art stands out for its world-class collection, free admission, well-curated exhibits, and commitment to education and accessibility. It's a cultural cornerstone of Cleveland and a must-see destination for art enthusiasts and casual visitors alike.

I finally saw this museum for the first time after living in Ohio for 38 years. I love the Dayton and Cincinnati art museums but this is the best museum in the state and the Midwest. It would be one of the top three museums in the US -- up there with the Met in NYC and the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC. The collection is superb particularly American art, Impressionistic art, and Asian art. It's displayed beautifully. The building design doesn't compete with the art; it's a comfortable place to enjoy art. "The Burning of the Houses of Lords and Commons" by Turner is there which was a surprise considering how important that (one of two) painting(s) were in art history. There are 2 beautiful Van Gogh paintings and a print. There are a lot more. It's free to go to except for a parking fee, but it isn't much. It's welcoming unlike some of the museums in Europe. Its rated here is 4.3 but it is a 5-star museum. It's well worth going to. I'm sorry I didn't go to it sooner considering all the far-flung museums I've visited in the past and this was close to home.
